Battle of the Countertops: Granite, Marble & Quartz

Battle of the Countertops: Granite, Marble & Quartz

Granite, Quartz and Marble are all great
countertop options. Choosing just one of these great materials can be
difficult. Here’s a little bit of information about each type of countertop to help make your decision easier…

Granite

Granite is a natural stone available in a wide range of colours. No two granite
countertops are ever the same. Granite is incredibly durable and
easy-to-clean, making it a great option for countertops.

Once installed, granite countertops can be difficult to remove.
Granite is also a very heavy material, so additional structural support
is usually required when it’s being used as a countertop.

Marble

Marble countertops offer a classic look and can brighten up any space. They
are fairly priced, available in a wide range of styles and heat resistant (for the most part).

If you opt for a marble countertop, be aware that it requires more maintenance than other types of countertops. It can scratch and stain easily, so be sure to always use cutting boards when prepping food.

Quartz

Quartz countertops are both stain- and bacteria-resistant, so they don’t
require much maintenance. In addition to being incredibly easy to care for, quartz countertops are available in a wide range of colours and textures, from solid to speckled.

Like granite, quartz is a very heavy material—installation might require the help of several people and additional structural support.

Quartz is also quite pricey, however, it will add to the value of your
home.
